Same day as today, but several hundreds of years before, a child was born. Not an ordinary child but a King-to-be and not the average king but, surely, the most known King of England, Henry the VIIIth.
If a lion knew his strength, it were hard for
any man to hold him.
- Sir Thomas More of Henry VIII -
At the age of 10, Henry inherited the title of Prince of Wales because of the death of his elder brother, Arthur, well... the title and..... his wife, Catherine of Aragon, although they were not married until Henry was crowned King after the death of his father at the age of 18.
Historians say he was a handsome, athletic and tall boy who enjoyed hunting and jousting, he was musician, author and poet and learnt latin, french and spanish, but became and obese, lustful, selfish and harsh man on his late days.
From his reign two things are remembered above the rest: The break of the Anglican church from Rome and his many wives in the search of a son.
Henry was, above all, a charismatic king, powerful and energetic.
And you'll be wondering why am I dedicating that post to King Henry.. well, that's a good question, indeed, and it has a simple answer... we share birthday!
